Editorial standards
The principles that govern how Slantpoint selects, labels, and presents stories.
Independence
Slantpoint is independent of the publishers it indexes. Editorial decisions are not traded for access, advertising, or partnership.
- Sponsorship is always labeled and never influences clustering or comparison.
- No publisher can pay to be indexed or to be removed from a comparison.
- Editorial and business functions are separated.
Labeling
Every item carries a content-type label. We do not blur reporting with opinion.
- Reporting — verified accounts of what happened.
- Analysis — interpretation drawing on evidence, clearly marked.
- Opinion — a stated viewpoint, attributed.
- Automated Analysis — AI-assisted drafts, editor-reviewed before publication.
- Sponsored — paid content, clearly separated and never part of a cluster.
Sourcing
Claims link to the sources that support them. Where a claim rests on a single source, we say so. Anonymous sourcing is attributed to the original outlet, not to us.
Fairness to difference
We describe framing differences without declaring a correct framing. Our comparisons are observations, not verdicts.
We do not produce a bias score. A score implies a neutral baseline we cannot honestly claim; describing differences respects the reader's judgement.
These policies describe how Slantpoint is designed to behave.
